What this class changes

Obligations for consignments from Cameroon.

  • Collect the full Article 9 information for every consignment — this never goes away, whatever the class.
  • Full due diligence required: risk assessment (Art. 10) and, where risk is found, mitigation (Art. 11) before placing on the market.
  • Competent authorities must check at least 3% of operators from this class each year (Art. 16).
Forest & deforestation context

Why Cameroon is scrutinised the way it is.

Congo Basin cocoa and timber origin; forest legality is governed by the 1994 forest law and the VPA framework.

Main commodity drivers of forest loss: cocoa, wood (deforestation-attribution literature).

FLEGT/VPA status: VPA signed; licensing not operational.

Legality evidence in Cameroon

What proves Article 9(1)(h) legality here.

ONCC cocoa registration

National cocoa and coffee board records.

Timber titles (vente de coupe, UFA concessions)

VPA-defined legality grid.

Plot evidence in Map Studio

No public parcel register for Cameroon.

Plots are drawn on satellite imagery or imported from supplier files in Map Studio; automatic country-border and coastline checks still apply to every plot.

Manual TRACES filing — Cameroon

Filing steps for this origin.

  1. Collect each supplier's plot geometry (GeoJSON/KML/shapefile or drawn in Map Studio) and verify it against satellite imagery.
  2. Run the automatic checks in Map Studio: country borders, coastline, geometry validity, mixed origin.
  3. Fill producer name and production country per plot; set commodity, product type and production period once on the workspace.
  4. Run the full risk assessment (Art. 10) and document mitigation where any risk remains (Art. 11).
  5. For timber: attach the FLEGT licence — licensed timber is automatically considered legal under Art. 10.
  6. Export the TRACES submission GeoJSON from Map Studio (readiness gate must be green) and keep the plot register and checksums with your records.
  7. Enter the DDS in TRACES, attach the GeoJSON, and record the DDS reference number on the invoice chain.
